The Hill Fire started on September 2, 2011 at approxmatily 13:00 on the southbound I-15 south of Oak Hills Road. Hot tempuratures, high winds, low humitity quickly caused the fire to brun into the community of Oak Hills. At the height of the fire 950 firefighters were on the ground battaling the blaze (12 crews, 8 water tenders). 8 air-tankers (including the DC-10), 3 helitankers battled the fire from the air. Unified command between San Bernardino County Fire Department, CalFire San Bernardino Unit and United States Foerst Service San Bernardino NF, ICP was located at BDC Station 305.
